Last Chance to Ride Behind the Flying Scotsman This Weekend

The most famous steam locomotive in the world is reaching the end of a remarkable two-week stay in the East Midlands — and this weekend is your final chance to be part of it.

No. 60103 Flying Scotsman has been turning heads at the Great Central Railway Nottingham since arriving ahead of the Bank Holiday, already having hauled packed passenger trains across two hugely popular weekends. This Saturday and Sunday mark her final scheduled services on the line before she departs, bringing the curtain down on a visit that has seen the iconic locomotive return to this part of the East Midlands for the first time in 25 years.

Organisers have confirmed that only a limited number of tickets remain for this weekend's departures. With the previous weekends having proved enormously popular, those remaining seats are expected to go quickly.

Originally built in 1923 at Doncaster Works for the Great Northern Railway and numbered 4472 under the LNER, Flying Scotsman became the first locomotive in the United Kingdom to be officially recorded at 100mph. Renumbered 60103 under British Railways, she is now a National Railway Museum exhibit when not in active service, and her visits to heritage lines are rare events that capture the imagination of enthusiasts and the wider public alike.

Remaining tickets can be purchased online via the Great Central Railway Nottingham booking page. Don't wait — once they're gone, so is she.
