We're delighted to say we're now looking for a contractor to build the Factory Flyover phase of Reunification. All being well, we can appoint someone before Christmas 2026, with work starting on site early in 2027.
The Factory Flyover phase is actually two sections in one, delivering the elevated viaduct over the factory crossing and a new bridge above Railway Terrace road. At one end it connects with the new Midland Main Line bridge, at the other it will connect to the Urban viaduct. It's another sixty metres of new railway infrastructure and the most complex section we have tackled so far.
The total cost is £3.5m, though with £300,000 of design work paid for and £2.9m (and climbing) already raised, the funding gap is small enough for us to go ahead. Do please keep up your contributions though please. They are vital for completing the Factory Flyover phase and moving forward with more construction in future.
In the meantime, in our brand new video at https://youtu.be/Fd8_WUNizCU project director Larry Greenwell takes you on a deep dive about the tender process, including what's happening now and in the weeks ahead.
As always, thank you for your support. These are very exciting times for the Reunification project.
