Stanford Viaduct is the scenic highlight of any journey along our railway. It carries you 100 feet above the River Soar, with great views of the Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire landscapes.
Sadly in recent years the viaduct has been vandalised. Bricks have been knocked down and stolen, heavy coping stones have been pushed into the valley below. Grafitti has been sprayed all over it. We've carried out a full structural survey and devised a repair programme. Now we need to raise £49,000 to carry out the work and make this grand old lady of the shires, shine again.
If you'd like to help us, the railway's charity, East Midlands Transport Heritage Trust is accepting donations through the Forward Fund. Regular small donations by lots of people soon add up and we can get the work underway. Visit www.emtht.org to make a donation.
Thank you very much for your interest and support. It does really make a difference.
