Class 31 210 ready for passenger train return

On Friday 12th of May 2026, Class 31 210 clocked up some serious mileage ahead of its planned return to passenger traffic on Sunday 14th of May.

It hauled a lengthy set of carriages between 50 steps junction and the limit of operations at the A60 road bridge (pictured) on the northern outskirts of Loughborough, some nine miles.

It's more than 30 years since it last hauled a passenger train and on Sunday 14th it will be the first trains it has ever worked in preservation.
