We're pleased to share that planning permission has now been granted for the next stage of the Great Central Railway's Reunification project. This marks a significant step forward in reconnecting the northern and southern sections of the GCR.
The approval from Charnwood Borough Council means we can now press ahead with constructing the final 500 metres of railway through Loughborough – a missing link that once connected the two halves of the original line.
Work on site will resume shortly, with a ground investigation survey due to take place in the coming weeks. This essential stage will help inform the final designs and will cost around a quarter of a million pounds.
Much of what has been achieved so far – including three major bridge projects – has only been possible thanks to donations from supporters across the country and beyond. With planning consent now in place, we can move forward – but we'll need further funding to complete the job.

Next up, a major ground investigation study in a few weeks which will help us finish the final design work.
It's going to cost £250,000 but it's absolutely vital. If this video inspires you please make a donation at www.gcrailway.co.uk/unify or
